About the Journal

Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology (CMP) publishes research that connects clinical questions, the responsible use of medicines and evidence about the delivery of care. Its central test is whether a contribution enables a clearer understanding of patient outcomes, treatment decisions or clinically relevant mechanisms. The journal welcomes work from specialist centres, community services and settings with limited resources, provided that the research question and evidence are presented with sufficient precision for international readers.

Clinical and therapeutic questions

The scope includes precision oncology, chronic illness and multimorbidity, rare conditions, rehabilitation, geriatric care, infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance. Pharmacological contributions may investigate pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug interactions, repurposed treatments, pharmacovigilance and medication adherence. Studies should distinguish clinical benefit from surrogate endpoints and should report harms as carefully as benefits.

Methods and applications

CMP considers clinical trials, observational studies, meaningful case reports and case series, systematic and narrative reviews, short communications, technical notes, and commentaries. Research on diagnostics, medical devices, molecular testing, clinical informatics and artificial intelligence is welcome when the intended clinical application is defined and the validation supports the claim. Laboratory or computational studies should explain their translational relevance without presenting preliminary findings as established treatment recommendations.

Care delivery and readership

Health services and implementation research should connect organisational or policy decisions to access, quality, safety or outcomes. Comparisons across regions should describe the health system and population rather than treating a single setting as universally representative. The intended readership includes clinicians, clinical researchers, pharmacologists, allied health professionals and decision makers who need assessable evidence for practice.

Editorial boundaries

A manuscript is considered on its clinical relevance, scientific integrity, methodological suitability and clarity. Negative findings, replication, inconclusive results and well designed studies from underrepresented settings remain eligible. Descriptive claims without adequate evidence, commercial product promotion, unsubstantiated therapeutic recommendations and material outside the journal’s clinical remit may be declined before external review. An invitation or a scope enquiry is not a promise of acceptance.

Submission route

Authors should identify the article type and explain the clinical question in the cover letter. If a paper spans several specialties, they should indicate the expertise needed to evaluate it. The editorial office can clarify fit, but a final decision requires review of the complete submission. Questions or supporting documents should be sent through the CMP editorial office at cmpeditorialoffice@jandoopress.com, identifying the manuscript number or article DOI where available.
