Corrections Retractions and Postpublication Discussion
Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology maintains the published record so that readers can distinguish valid evidence, corrected errors and work that should no longer be relied upon. Authors and readers can identify problems at any time. The purpose of a notice is to explain the status of the article and protect interpretation, not to punish a person or erase an inconvenient publication.
Scholarly discussion
Readers may submit a focused comment or letter identifying the article, the contested claim and supporting evidence. The editor assesses relevance and tone, seeks external advice where useful and ordinarily offers the article’s authors an opportunity to respond. Discussion should address evidence rather than personal character. A disagreement about interpretation does not automatically require correction or establish misconduct. A credible safety or integrity concern is assessed promptly without waiting for an ordinary correspondence cycle.
Corrections
A correction addresses an error or omission that can be repaired while the main work remains reliable. Examples include an important numerical error, an inaccurate funding declaration or an agreed authorship correction. The editor considers the effect on results and conclusions, rather than classifying all author errors as minor. The notice identifies the change and is linked to the article; substantial changes are not made by silently replacing the PDF.
Expressions of concern
A clearly labelled expression of concern can alert readers to a major, credible and unresolved question about reliability or ethical conduct when a conclusive decision is not currently possible. It explains what remains uncertain without asserting unproven misconduct. CMP continues to seek resolution and links any later correction, retraction or explanation that resolves the concern. A concern notice need not predetermine the eventual outcome.
Retraction
Retraction may be needed when findings are seriously unreliable, substantial plagiarism or redundant publication undermines the record, research is unethical, or manipulation compromises the assessment and trustworthiness of the paper. The responsible independent editor makes the decision, with publisher support. Authors are given a chance to respond, but their agreement is not a prerequisite. Honest error can also justify retraction; the wording should distinguish it from established misconduct where the evidence allows.
Linked notices and article status
A notice identifies the original article and DOI, the date, the reason and scope of the action, and who is issuing it. It records relevant author agreement or disagreement without unnecessary private information. The original landing page, full text and PDF are marked appropriately and linked to the notice; the notice links back. Indexing and metadata recipients are informed through the available correction channels. Retracted content generally remains accessible as part of the scholarly record.
Exceptional removal and replacement
Full or partial removal is reserved for compelling circumstances such as a serious violation of patient privacy, an applicable legal obligation or a grave risk that cannot be adequately managed through a notice. The minimum necessary material is removed, and a bibliographic notice remains where permitted. Withdrawal before publication is distinct from retraction of a version of record. A substantially corrected replacement must be identifiable and linked to the earlier record; it is not passed off as the unchanged original.
Connected cases and requests
Where several articles share a problem, the journal considers the evidence and required notice for each article. A batch process does not remove individual accountability or the opportunity to respond. Requests should supply the article DOI, affected passage or figure and supporting evidence. The journal does not charge a fee for raising a concern or for a necessary corrective notice. Questions or supporting documents should be sent through the CMP editorial office at cmpeditorialoffice@jandoopress.com, identifying the manuscript number or article DOI where available.
Screening findings after publication
CMP uses Turnitin for English manuscripts. A valid postpublication report above either the 30 percent similarity ceiling or the 30 percent AI-writing ceiling is referred to cmpintegrity@jandoopress.com. The office removes misleading self-matches, checks report suitability, considers the original material and invites an author response. If that documented review confirms that the published article fails either applicable ceiling, the article is retracted under this policy. The APC is not refunded for that retraction, subject to mandatory legal rights. The notice states the verified result and preserves independent review.
