Copyright Licensing and Third Party Material

Authors publishing in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology retain copyright in their article, except where an identified employer or another rights holder owns it under an applicable arrangement. Publication does not require transfer of copyright to Jandoo Press. The authors or authorised rights holder grant the publisher the nonexclusive rights needed to publish, distribute and preserve the agreed article and its associated record.

Article licence and publication agreement

CMP uses Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, CC BY 4.0, for its articles. The publication agreement must be consistent with that licence and the copyright statement in the full text. It authorises publication of the accepted work and the maintenance of associated metadata and corrective notices. Submission for review permits the confidential editorial use necessary to consider a paper; it is not permission to publish a rejected manuscript.

Reuse by readers and authors

The licence permits copying and adaptation for any purpose, including commercial purposes, subject to its terms. A reuser should credit the authors and source, provide a licence link and make changes apparent. The journal cannot require an additional fee for a use already permitted by the licence. The licence does not grant permission to suggest endorsement by a clinician, an institution or CMP, and it does not automatically cover trademarks or personal privacy rights.

Material owned by others

Authors identify borrowed figures, clinical images, tables, scales, questionnaires and substantial text. They establish whether the material is their own, openly licensed, in the public domain or used with valid permission or another applicable basis. Where permission is needed, it should cover the intended online publication and reuse; a credit line identifies any excluded material and its conditions. The author supplies evidence when requested. Citation alone does not supply copyright permission.

Patient images and permissions

Copyright permission for a clinical photograph is different from the patient’s consent to publication. Both may be required. Authors must not assume that removing a name transfers rights or eliminates a confidentiality problem. Institutional ownership, restrictions on a diagnostic instrument and permissions for publisher produced graphics should be resolved before the material is submitted for publication.

Questions and rights concerns

If ownership or permission is disputed before publication, the editor may hold the paper while the author resolves the issue or replaces nonessential material. A substantiated problem after publication can require a corrected credit, replacement, restricted removal or another linked notice. Such action is assessed in proportion to the problem and does not automatically revoke a valid licence granted for unaffected content. Questions or supporting documents should be sent through the CMP editorial office at cmpeditorialoffice@jandoopress.com, identifying the manuscript number or article DOI where available.
