Advertising
JGTSS does not carry paid advertising on its website, in articles or issues, or in official journal communications. Issue announcements and identified calls for papers communicate the journal’s own scholarly activities. Any future decision to introduce advertising must satisfy the prospective safeguards in this policy and be announced before placements are accepted.
Distinguishing academic information
An editorially selected call for papers, information about a journal event or a link to a relevant research resource is identified according to its actual purpose. If money or another benefit is exchanged for placement, the material is advertising or sponsorship and must be treated accordingly. A thematic section cannot be sold as advertising space while its articles are represented as independently selected research.
Research discussing a platform, consulting service, policy programme or other commercial activity is judged by its question, evidence and disclosures. It is not accepted because the organization purchases a service from the publisher. A product name may be necessary to explain a method, but promotional claims unsupported by evidence are removed or the submission is declined.
Any future change
Before introducing paid advertising, JGTSS will publish the revised policy, the permissible categories, who approves placements, how placement is selected and how readers can raise concerns. Advertising decisions will be administered separately from manuscript decisions. Advertisers will have no role in reviewer selection, acceptance, article conclusions or correction of the scholarly record.
Any future advertisement must be clearly labelled and visually distinguishable from articles, editorial recommendations, review invitations and official indexing notices. It must not obstruct free article access, imitate download controls or imply endorsement of a product by authors or the editorial board. Claims about research services, qualifications, publication outcomes or database coverage must be supportable. Targeting must respect the journal’s privacy rules and cannot use confidential manuscript or reviewer information.
Oversight and complaints
The publisher is responsible for checking the accuracy and suitability of any permitted placement; academic editors may flag a conflict without becoming sales decision-makers. A sponsor’s or advertiser’s objection cannot prevent the publication of a correction, retraction or critical article supported by sound evidence. If a commercial relationship concerns a subject under editorial assessment, the handling editor’s independence is reviewed.
Readers may report an apparent advertisement, intrusive placement or misleading commercial claim to jgtsseditorialoffice@jandoopress.com, providing the URL and a brief description. The publisher checks whether the placement is authorized and correctly labelled, removes or corrects misleading content and records the response. Where the concern involves influence over scholarly content, it is referred to an unconflicted academic editor. The journal does not retroactively treat an undisclosed paid placement as legitimate editorial content merely because it has already appeared online.
