Article identity

Every published article receives a DOI and a stable article record containing the bibliographic metadata, dates, licence and applicable notices.

Accepted contributions and editorial boundaries

Original research articles, review articles, case studies, short perspectives, correspondence and commentaries. Research and review contributions receive external peer review; other categories identify their actual editorial assessment route.

A paper about a treatment, device or algorithm must present a substantial social-science question. Promotional writing, unsupported commentary, fabricated evidence and work under review elsewhere are not eligible.

The Surrounding Communications Research section examines regional and cross-cultural relationships, media networks and communication within communities and their social environments. Its articles remain subject to independent review and the journal's ethics requirements.

Editorial governance and independent review

Academic editors and the editorial board administer the scholarly assessment of Journal of Global Trends in Social Science under the journal's published governance rules. The publisher provides publishing infrastructure and administrative support; payment, sponsorship, a section affiliation or a personal relationship with an editor does not determine scope, review or acceptance.

Editors first assess scope, completeness, ethical acceptability and the credibility of the proposed method. Substantive research and review submissions selected for external assessment receive double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external reviewers. Conflicted editors or reviewers are removed from the affected decision, and a formal appeal route is available after a decision.

The current editor and board directory is maintained in Policy 31: [[JGTSS_POLICY_31_URL]]. Governance, peer review, special-issue handling and appeals are set out in Policies 03–05 and 14: [[JGTSS_POLICY_03_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_04_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_05_URL]] and [[JGTSS_POLICY_14_URL]].

Research integrity and publication ethics

Authors must provide accurate authorship and contribution information, declare competing interests and funding, obtain required ethics review and consent, and explain access to data, code, materials and reporting checklists. The journal applies the same standards to invited, themed and independently submitted work.

The journal screens English manuscripts using Turnitin before editorial progression. Each valid report must show no more than 30% overall similarity and no more than 30% AI-writing content. The percentages do not certify scientific validity, and a postpublication failure established under Policy 15 may lead to retraction without an APC refund.

The complete integrity route covers publication ethics, authorship, interests and funding, research ethics, data and reporting, artificial intelligence, originality, misconduct, complaints, appeals and postpublication action. Use Policies 06–15 for the requirements and the evidence expected at each stage.

Open access, rights, preservation and privacy

Journal of Global Trends in Social Science publishes the version of record as open access under CC BY 4.0. Authors retain copyright and grant the non-exclusive publication authorization needed to publish, distribute and preserve the article. Third-party material remains subject to its own permission or licence and is identified in the article rather than silently included in the journal licence.

Authors may disclose preprints and deposit the permitted version in suitable repositories, while keeping the DOI, first-publication date and version-of-record relationship accurate. The journal maintains long-term digital preservation through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) arrangements and maintains continuity procedures for article records. Operational services are hosted through Amazon Web Services; access control, encrypted transport, backups, incident handling and data minimization are described in the privacy and continuity policies.

Detailed access, rights, repository, preservation and privacy statements are Policies 16–19 and 24: [[JGTSS_POLICY_16_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_17_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_18_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_19_URL]] and [[JGTSS_POLICY_24_URL]].

APC, fee assistance and institutional arrangements

The tax-inclusive article processing charge for Journal of Global Trends in Social Science is USD 450. An approved 50% geographic or documented hardship reduction changes the amount payable to USD 225. Transfer, currency-conversion and payment-provider charges are borne by the payer. Authors in mainland China may use domestic bank transfer; authors outside mainland China may use PayPal. An invoice is issued according to the actual payment and the author's invoicing request.

A corresponding author should request assistance when submitting or before the invoice is issued. The request identifies the country or territory or explains the exceptional hardship, names the manuscript, and supplies concise supporting evidence. The office records the decision before payment, applies no more than one reduction to the same charge, and does not make ability to pay an editorial criterion. A withdrawal, rejection or retraction does not create an automatic APC refund; any refund question follows Policy 20.

Eligible corresponding authors who are researchers of the Center for Surrounding Communication Studies, Peking University may request the journal's 50% institutional reduction under Policy 21. The institutional benefit is separate from the geographic or hardship route and is not cumulative with it.

See Policies 20, 21 and 28 for charges, assistance, institutional arrangements and sponsorship: [[JGTSS_POLICY_20_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_21_URL]] and [[JGTSS_POLICY_28_URL]].

Business model, advertising and direct communications

The journal's publishing model is funded by APCs and may also receive donations, grants, sponsorship or proceeds from optional print-on-demand subscriptions. At the effective date no external financial support is reported for this journal. Paid advertising is not accepted, and editorial decisions are kept separate from financial or promotional interests.

The default edition is digital. Printed copies are produced only on demand and sold separately from the article's open-access publication. A print order is not a condition of submission, review, acceptance, DOI assignment or access to the digital version.

Registered users may receive new-article notices and calls for papers by email. The publisher may contact relevant scholars using professional addresses that are publicly available for that purpose and respects applicable anti-scraping and no-contact signals. Every message identifies its sender and provides a working unsubscribe route; opting out does not affect a manuscript or article record.

Business model, advertising, privacy communications, direct marketing and print arrangements are Policies 22–24, 27 and 30: [[JGTSS_POLICY_22_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_23_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_24_URL]], [[JGTSS_POLICY_27_URL]] and [[JGTSS_POLICY_30_URL]].

Submission and author guidance

Submissions are made through the JGTSS online OJS system: [[JGTSS_SUBMISSION_PORTAL_URL]]. Authors should follow APA 7th edition for references, use an IMRaD structure for empirical work where it clarifies the study, and make heading levels, numbered references to figures and tables, declarations, permissions and supplementary files easy to verify. Detailed article-type, file, language and declaration requirements are in Policy 25: [[JGTSS_POLICY_25_URL]].

The journal-specific requirements for Social and Digital Fieldwork are summarized in Policy 26: [[JGTSS_POLICY_26_URL]]. Authors should read that policy before submission because its evidence, safety, translation, fieldwork or clinical requirements cannot be replaced by a generic checklist.

A submission is not accepted because it is complete, pays an APC or has been invited. Acceptance starts production; publication occurs only after the required editorial, ethics, rights, metadata and proof checks are complete.

Publication record and contact routes

The journal maintains a dated article record, DOI, issue assignment and notices for corrections, expressions of concern, retractions and postpublication discussion. Material changes remain visible and are coordinated across the primary article page, downloadable file, DOI metadata and any authorized mirror. The publisher does not erase an article merely to simplify an archive or conceal a delay.
