Use of Generative AI
Scope and Purpose
This policy governs the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and AI-assisted technologies in manuscripts submitted to, and articles published by, journals of Jandoo Press. It applies to all stages of manuscript preparation, including drafting, editing, translation, figure generation, and data analysis.
Policy on Author Use of GenAI in Manuscripts
Authors may use AI-assisted tools for language editing, grammar checking, and improving readability. However, AI tools may not be listed as authors under any circumstances. Authorship requires accountability that AI systems cannot fulfill.
Where GenAI has been used in a substantial manner (e.g., to assist in drafting sections of text, generating figures, or analyzing data), authors must disclose this use in a dedicated section of the manuscript. The disclosure statement should include the name of the tool(s) used, the purpose of use, and the extent of contribution. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all submitted content.
Suggested disclosure statement:
During the preparation of this work, the authors used [TOOL NAME] to [specific purpose]. After using this tool, the authors reviewed and edited the content as necessary and take full responsibility for the published article.
Prohibited Uses
- AI tools must not be used to fabricate, manipulate, or misrepresent data or research findings.
- AI-generated images that have not been clearly labeled and disclosed are not permitted.
- The use of AI to produce false citations or references is strictly prohibited.
- AI tools may not be used to unduly inflate article length or to create redundant or misleading content.
Policy on GenAI in the Editorial and Peer Review Process
Editors and reviewers must not use GenAI tools to assist in their evaluation of manuscripts in ways that compromise confidentiality, introduce bias, or breach the intellectual property of submitting authors. Reviewers may use AI for language comprehension only, and must not input manuscript text into any publicly accessible AI platform.
