Research Misconduct Process
Prevention Measures
Jandoo Press takes all reasonable steps to prevent the publication of manuscripts involving research misconduct. These steps include:
- Screening all submissions using anti-plagiarism detection software (CrossCheck / iThenticate or equivalent) prior to peer review.
- Requiring authors to declare that the work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
- Requiring disclosure of all funding sources, conflicts of interest, ethical approvals, and data availability.
- Training editors and editorial staff on the identification of potential misconduct indicators.
Types of Misconduct Addressed
- Plagiarism (including self-plagiarism and text-recycling without disclosure)
- Data fabrication, falsification, and selective reporting
- Duplicate submission or publication
- Authorship manipulation (gift authorship, ghost authorship, honorary authorship)
- Citation manipulation (coercive citation, citation fabrication)
- Image manipulation or misrepresentation
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest
- Failure to obtain required ethical approvals
Response Procedure
When an allegation of research misconduct is received, whether before or after publication, Jandoo Press follows the COPE flowcharts and guidelines. The standard procedure includes:
- Acknowledging the allegation and opening a preliminary investigation.
- Contacting the corresponding author for a response and/or explanation.
- Consulting the editorial board and, where appropriate, external experts.
- Where necessary, notifying the author's institution, funding body, or other relevant authority.
- Taking appropriate action, which may include rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction.
Post-Publication Actions
If a published article is found to contain material errors or to have been published in violation of ethical standards, Jandoo Press will issue a correction, retraction, or expression of concern as appropriate, in line with COPE guidelines. Retracted articles remain on the platform, clearly marked as retracted, with the reasons stated.
