Open Access Policy
This is the official Open Access (OA) policy of the Journal of Global Trends in Social Science (JGTSS), published by Jandoo Press. It is fully consistent with Jandoo Press’s Copyright and Licensing Policy. JGTSS is a fully OA journal; no subscription sections are offered.
Access and version of record
- Immediate, permanent access: All articles are freely available online upon publication; no registration, embargo, or paywall applies.
- Version of record (VOR): The publisher-hosted, DOI-assigned final typeset article is the authoritative version for citation and linking.
Copyright and licensing
- Author ownership: Authors retain copyright.
- Publishing licence to Jandoo Press: Authors grant Jandoo Press a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to publish, disseminate, and preserve the article and its metadata. Copyright is not transferred.
- Default licence: Articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), permitting sharing, adaptation, and commercial use with appropriate credit and indication of changes. Licence text:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ - Alternative licences (by exception): Where required by funders or law, authors may request CC BY-NC 4.0 or CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 at submission. If approved, the chosen licence will appear on the article page and in metadata.
- Third-party content: Non-original materials (e.g., images, maps, datasets) must comply with their own rights terms and be clearly identified in the article.
Permitted reuse and attribution (including TDM)
- Reuse: Reading, downloading, printing, sharing, adaptation (e.g., translations, summaries, course packs), repository inclusion, and text-and-data mining (TDM) are allowed under the applicable CC licence.
- Attribution: Reuse must credit the authors, journal, and publisher; include the DOI; and state whether changes were made. Reuse must not imply endorsement by the authors or publisher.
Preprints and prior dissemination
- Allowed: Posting on preprint servers before submission or during peer review is permitted and does not affect editorial decisions.
- Post-publication update: After publication, authors should add the DOI and licence information to the preprint record and note substantive differences from the VOR, if any.
Self-archiving and repository deposit
- What and when: Authors may deposit the VOR (publisher PDF) immediately upon publication. Accepted manuscripts (AM) and submitted manuscripts (SM) may also be deposited at any time.
- Where: Institutional or subject repositories, authors’ websites, and compliant academic platforms.
- Required notices: Deposited versions must retain the CC licence and include a canonical link to the article’s DOI on the JSBE site. The VOR remains the definitive citable version.
Open science, transparency, and reproducibility
- Data/code availability: Articles must include a Data/Code Availability Statement. Where legally and ethically feasible, underlying data, code, and materials should be deposited in recognised repositories and cited with persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs).
- Justified restrictions: If privacy, confidentiality, security, or contractual limits apply, authors should provide de-identified data, controlled-access arrangements, or a reasoned non-availability statement.
- Methodological transparency: Materials, methods, and analysis steps should be reported with sufficient detail to enable verification or replication.
Long-term preservation and persistence
- Persistent identifiers: Articles are registered with Crossref DOIs and participate in open citations.
- Archiving commitment: JGTSS ensures long-term accessibility through participation in industry-standard preservation services (e.g., PKP PN/LOCKSS/CLOCKSS or an equivalent service appropriate to the platform). If platforms change, DOI targets will be updated to maintain resolution.
Funder compliance and rights retention (RRS)
- Funder mandates: JGTSS supports immediate OA, licence selection, metadata completeness, and, where applicable, deposit to designated repositories in line with funder requirements. Authors must provide accurate funder and grant details at submission.
- Rights Retention Statements: Manuscripts containing RRS language are considered. To avoid licence conflicts, RRS manuscripts will be published immediately open under a CC licence compatible with the RRS (preferably CC BY).
Editorial process and publishing ethics
- Editorial independence: OA status or APC arrangements do not influence editorial or peer-review decisions.
- Corrections and retractions: Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions follow COPE guidance; existing CC licences continue to apply to posted versions. See https://publicationethics.org
Article Processing Charge (APC) and waivers
- Standard APC: USD 80 (tax included) for all article types in JGTSS.
- Waivers/discounts: Full or partial waivers are available for authors with financial hardship and for corresponding authors based in eligible low- and lower-middle-income economies. Requests should be made at submission with brief justification.
- Refunds: If a publisher error results in an incorrect OA status or licence and is not corrected within 30 days, an APC refund may be granted. Refunds are not issued for author misconduct or author-initiated retraction.
- No barrier to review: Ability to pay does not affect peer review or acceptance.
Versioning and traceability
- Post-publication updates: Any updates are time-stamped and labelled; the VOR remains the authoritative record for citation.
- Retrospective OA (where applicable): With clear rights and stakeholder consent, legacy articles may be converted to OA and metadata updated accordingly.
Copy-ready statements for authors
