Design and Educational Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Interdisciplinary Research and Practice
|

About
Artificial intelligence is reshaping design practice, educational approaches, and academic research, creating new opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, emerging research questions, and innovative practices. For early-career academics and researchers, these developments extend beyond the adoption of new technologies. They are prompting fundamental questions about how design can advance, how education can evolve, how research can be conducted, and how scholarly work can be developed and communicated.
Against this backdrop, the 2026 First International Conference on Design and Educational Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (智启新知) brings together scholars and practitioners to explore emerging developments at the intersection of artificial intelligence, design, and education. With interdisciplinary research and practice at its core, the conference aims to foster dialogue on new challenges, research directions, and innovative approaches across these fields. It will convene international experts, early-career faculty members, researchers, and doctoral students through a series of complementary academic activities. These include a main academic forum highlighting advances across disciplines, an early-career scholars’ forum dedicated to research exchange, workshops on research methods and academic writing, and a forum on scholarly publishing that connects research development with academic dissemination. A dedicated Research Review and Consultation Session for Early-Career Scholars will also provide opportunities for participants to receive feedback on their ongoing work. Together, these activities are designed to support participants throughout the research process, from exploring emerging ideas and exchanging findings to strengthening research methods and refining scholarly outputs.
The conference places particular emphasis on interdisciplinary engagement, practical relevance, and active participation. Beyond attending presentations and learning about recent research, participants are encouraged to present their own work, raise questions, and engage directly with peers and experienced scholars. Both completed manuscripts and ongoing research proposals or preliminary ideas are welcome for discussion. Through constructive feedback and interdisciplinary exchange, participants will have opportunities to identify research gaps, refine their approaches, and develop new perspectives on their work.
Organized around the progression from technological and disciplinary changes in the age of artificial intelligence to emerging research questions, interdisciplinary methods, innovative practices, and scholarly outcomes, the conference seeks to provide an international platform for meaningful academic exchange. It aims to support early-career faculty members, researchers, and doctoral students in engaging with current developments, advancing their research, and strengthening connections between academic inquiry and professional practice.
